Orphans:
Wesleyan Comprehensive Skills Centre
Secondary education is highly desired in Uganda but the reality is that only about 10% are able to afford the cost. Even with this education, jobs are very difficult to obtain. It was the vision of Rev. Lucas Hamirie to begin a vocational school whereby orphans could learn skills that would enable them to find employment or open their own shop once skills were mastered.
In 2008, the first 60 students began courses in curriculum; tailoring, brick-laying and concrete finishing, welding/fabrication and carpentry/joinery. Each course contains requirements of theory, practical skills, and product development. Students have participated in the construction of a church and dispensary, window and door construction, furniture making and school uniform construction.

Adopt Uganda has funded the initial school structures and is helping to pay teacher's salaries, food and lodging for the students, tools and materials. It costs $300 per student per year but with food costs rising this will probably increase. A new dormitory is now under construction.
